Cool Retreat
March 5, 2010We spent two consecutive weekends already in Tagaytay. It was just too hot to stay at home and too frustrating to just window-shop. It is not that far from where we live, but it’s not that near either. You still feel like you’re going on a “trip”, if you know what I mean, so there’s still some excitement. Plus anywhere with lower temp is worth the drive.
Last weekend, my dear mom wanted to buy those small bananas, those still attached to the trunk. Do you eat that? That took some time…you know how moms can be too picky. Before that, we stopped along Silang to buy some plants. Got to Tagaytay just before sunset. Dinner was at Leslie’s, our usual “default” resto when nobody wants to drive around anymore.
Please don’t laugh, but I just discovered a liking for gardening. Just look at these mini-roses. My souvenir from our trip.
It would have been cool though if we also bought some sunflowers. That’ll be a nice way to pay homage for my love of the best game in the universe—Plants vs Zombies. Hee hee. Next time. I took pictures of the blooms with a coin for scale to show how small the flowers are. Pretty, right?♥
The blooms may be tiny, but the thorns are still nasty. I don’t mind. Now I can have roses everyday.♥♥♥
Huge Contrast
March 4, 2010We went from the heavens pouring hard on us to this superdry el niño. From a wet calamity to a dry calamity. I complained when there was too much water, now I’m praying for a single drop of rain.
Anything just to ease this heat. Please.
It was 35deg the other day. And some say the temperature will reach up to 40deg in some parts of the country. Gosh! We still have the summer months ahead of us. A long way to go but some dams are already at critical levels. Even the fish are dying.
I know it’ll be a miracle if it rains this March because it’s the just the beginning of summer. But who knows? Nothing can ever be certain. We all anticipated the tsunami after the 8.8 Chile earthquake, didn’t we? But it never came.
Faith is the key, I say.
Also, water is precious. Conserve.
Booked!
February 10, 2010I get overexcited over cheap deals. I tend to scrimp on one thing so I can splurge on others. I’m such a wise poor traveler that way.
Super excited!!! Can you tell? Diet time!
I’m babbling way too much though I can’t say a thing. It’s just that, Internet, I have waited for this. And wait long I did.
Surprise
January 27, 2010A couple of years ago, my good friend left for Singapore. I didn’t have a chance to properly say goodbye because I missed her last day in the office. I regretted that.
My emails bounced back. I couldn’t find her on networking sites. I lost contact with her for too long. I actually gave up the search when she finally texted me last Christmas. That was a nice gift.
Now this.
What a pleasant surprise. I did not care too much for my share of the chocolates, I gave most away [and I don’t usually pass up on sweets]. I was smitten with the cuteness of the ladybug. =)
This goes out to you A. I miss you!
I Dread Weekends Now
January 26, 2010I have been going to my dentist for a couple of Saturdays now. It started with a toothache. We all know how painful that can be, but I tried to ignore the pain because I AM THAT scared of having a tooth pulled… of injections, etc, etc.
But with the two weddings (my cousin’s and best friend’s, on two separate dates), I had to choose between missing those and facing the problem—or in this case ‘biting’ the problem.
My phobia was terribly affecting my mood. Aoi had to psych me up the entire week—he had to promise over and over that “I won’t die”. I was THAT scared.
A few visits [and a lot of fixing for my other teeth, which costs a lot if you sum it up] later, the verdict for that ‘problem tooth’ was a root canal. Woo-hoo! I’m more afraid now of how much the procedure costs than the pain.
So long, Leica! So long, honeymoon! You’ll just have to wait till we can afford you again.
