How did I ever get so lucky?

July 14, 2009

If I can wrap up gratitude, I will. I’ll put some girlie ribbon and then send one box each to every person who was with me last Friday.

I did ask permission to post this. A speech written by one of my best friends—this is our story. He recited this as part of the program.

I have been friends with Tin for 7 long years, and in that span, I have seen her grow to become a fine lady that she is now. I have been with her through her ups and downs, have laughed with her, have cried with her, and have witnessed how she fell in love.

Oh! She is so different when she’s in love …. I can attest to that. And the evidence is in front of you. Look how she glows. You can definitely see through her smile that she’s happy.

Five years ago, I was able to notice the difference. After getting out of a relationship on December of 2003, Tin became quiet and spent most of her time in front of her PC. At times, I saw her cry. Tin’s heart mirrors her mood. And even though she was pulling so much effort to hide it, I knew she was hurting.

Then Louie came into the picture. He was introduced by an acquaintance. At first, as Tin puts it, they move around the same circle of people then. Except for some hurried conversations during office breaks, they hardly bump into each other in the halls. As far as I can remember, the connection between them started during the Incubus concert on March 12, 2004. I was with them. And that time, Tin was different. She wasn’t the lifeless and frail girl she had been last December. She was actually … happy.

During one of our visits at Tin’s home to eat the famous chicken of her Mama, I was in the balcony with Louie. There, he revealed to me his intention towards Tin, asking for support. I told myself, “Why would I deny him of support if, in the little time I have known him, he has already shown goodness.” I told him, “Sige, suportahan ta ka.” I wasn’t wrong. Come April 25, they were already together. Tin started to glow again. Tin was smiling again.

Tin, remember when you were telling us about your pet love bird? The one whose partner flew away? She was sad being alone that’s why you bought another one to give her a partner. You’re that love bird, and God picked Louie to give you a better partner, someone who’ll complement with you amidst your differences, someone who’ll love you for the rest of your life.

Best wishes and congratulations!

[pass the tissue, please]

He made me cry a lot last Friday. He’s the best, and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in this world.

P.S. To all my friends and loved ones [guys, you know who you are] who saw me through one of the happiest days of my life, thank you a million times! Thank you for skipping work, thank you for helping out, thank you for laughing with us [sometimes crying with us], and thank you for simply being there with us. I love you all!

Nice blog. Ang linis ng design.
Thanks. Nag-enjoy kami. Nung kumakanta ako ng Angel’s Brought Me Here, I was holding back my tears kasi baka pumiyok ako. Hehehe. Grabe, sa lahat ng reception na na-atendan ko, yun yung pinaka heartfelt. Ang daming umiyak. We’re so happy for you.
